Catching Up In October

its-october

Just when I thought I had it all together…..Ahhh!! Life please slow down. Due to some health issues I have been missing again. I really am just wanting to be good at this but life has thrown me so many curve balls this year. Although, I’m going to cut myself some slack though. I’m telling ya, once you hit your thirties, time flies. Even dealing with some unpleasant stuff there have been some real highs in September. I’m excited to share these with you. Let’s start catching up!!

Book Finished

January is when I started reading The Girl on the Train. A few pages here and a few pages there. This book is a thriller, I think I just had too many things going on. With the movie quickly approaching, there was no more time to play around. I finished my FIRST book of the year. (What is wrong with me, really?) I’ve started several books but couldn’t manage to get through one whole book until now. It was a good read for sure and I’m glad I finished.

Some advice, this is one of those times when you should pick to see the movie and not read the book or read the book and not see the movie. I have no regret over doing both but I think this time I would have preferred to just do one over the other. This is just my opinion.

Sister Visit

Yay! My sister came down for a visit. It was a short visit but much needed. Having no family around can be very lonely at times and I was in need of a visit. We had a blast eating, shopping and going to a great show (more on that below). Chatting in person is definitely what I enjoyed most.

Beyonce with the sister

Beyoncé

Beyoncé made her way to Houston for round two of her tour. We spent over $150 to go see her and it was worth every single penny. Towards the end of the show, April and I looked at each other and said, “Next time, we are paying to big bucks to be on the floor level.”

It was truly an especially great experience. To be honest, I have always loved her hits but before the Lemonade album I had never listened to a full album.

Needless to say, Beyoncé puts on a spectacular show. She is strong and fierce and you leave feeling this strong and fierce. I slay!

Silos Bakery

Next, we made our way to Magnolia Market to try cupcakes at Silos Bakery Co. Each one looked especially  yummy. The lemon lavender flavor was my favorite. Also, I may or may not have taken home one of each flavor…shhh!

Magnolia Market

The storefront was just as exciting as my first visit. I left with the same desire to redecorate my whole house again. Unfortunately, No sightings of Chip or Joanna.

Thai Food

Those who know me know that I don’t go out of my bubble often. I’m pretty predictable most days and when it comes to food, I may be the pickiest person you will ever meet. There are many things I will not have due to colors, smells, or texture.

Well, my bestie and I decided to try a new restaurant. We Googled and decide to give Songkran a try. Thai Food is something I stray from due to spice but I did it. We started is Satay Gai (chicken on a stick) and the main dish was Pad Si-ew. This is a beef and noodle dish with a hint of spice. Thai food found it’s way into my belly and I think I like it.

SongKran

The restaurant atmosphere was fantastic and if I had a special someone, this would make a nice date night spot. Go try it!

It’ been great catching up, next post coming in 2017. Just kidding. Hope you are all enjoying the fall. In Texas is mostly still feels like summer but everyone is tricking themselves by forcing plaid, boots and scarves. Way too hot for me to want to “pretend”. Anyhow, Happy Hump day. It feel great to be back here again.
